MacMillan Cancer Support are a source of support, helping with all the things that people affected by cancer want and need. It’s not only patients who live with cancer, they also help carers, families and communities. They guide people through the system, supporting them every step of the way. MacMillan fund nurses and other specialist health care professionals and build cancer care centres. But they give so much more than medical help.
People need practical support at home, so MacMillan provide anything from some precious time off for a carer, to a lift to hospital. They provide emotional support, listen, advise and share information though their cancer support specialists, website and trained professionals. They also provide benefits advice, and grants for anything from heating bills to travel costs. Find our more at www.macmillan.org.uk.
Eden Valley Hospice
Eden Valley Hospice cares for patients, both adult and children, from the Cumbria and South West Scotland area with life-limiting illnesses including cancers, and other conditions such as motor neurone disease, muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis, heart failure, chronic lung diseases, renal failure and chronic neurological conditions.
Teenage Cancer Trust
Tragically, seven young people in the UK are diagnosed with cancer every day, with more young people dying as a result than any other disease. As world-leaders, Teenage Cancer Trust are the only UK charity dedicated to providing care and support for 13-24s with cancer. Without us, they would be treated on wards alongside children or older people, isolated and alone, with virtually no specialist treatment or support. We bring young cancer patients together on specialist units to be treated and supported by expert staff – giving them the best quality of life and the greatest possible chance of survival.
